AISI 4130 Wrought Metal Pipes
AISI 4130 Wrought Metal PipesNOTE A:
AISI 4130 Wrought Metal Pipes, quenched, and tempered mechanical requirements:
Minimum Yield strength: 482.65 MPa
Minimum Ultimate Tensile Strength=60.55MPa
Hardness:183-223BHN
Minimum Impact Properties=3.5 kg-m (-)46 Degree C
Vendor to furnish certification of actual chemical and physical test results from each tube furnished, taken at mid-wall.
NOTE B:
Inside offset and blend of AISI 4130 Wrought Metal Pipes
: 3.3 (1/8") maximum permissible inside diameter offset, if machined from each end.i.d.
Offset must be hand ground to 0.5 mm/mm to A 6.3 finish (maximum of 3.3 (1/8") over 152.4 lengths)
NOTE C:
Machined outside diameter surface to be magnetic particle inspected.
No linear indication permitted AISI 4130 Wrought Metal Pipes.
Maximum allowable non-linear indication size=6.4
QUALITY of AISI 4130 Wrought Metal Pipes:
U.T. per ASTM 213 ultrasonic examination of metal pipe and tubing,
The calibration standard shall be made separately from the actual tube and is to have a machined notch to a depth of 1.5mm (0.060 inches) and a length of 25mm (1 inch). The notch shall be machined on the inside and outside surfaces of the reference standard in such a way that both notch standards can be separately detected.
The U.T. test will be carried out by the rotating tube method and the test coverage will be 100% of the tube with a 10% overlap.
All indications of the AISI 4130 Wrought Metal Pipesare equal to or greater than the reference standard will be cause for rejection. Such indications will be removed by grinding or cutting back. Any repair area will be inspected to ensure that any indication is removed and that the specified tolerance is met.
All repair welding of the AISI 4130 Wrought Metal Pipes must have prior approval by caterpillar and must meet the overall physical and impact properties stated in this specification. All welding must be stress relieved and documented in the certification.
